Location
Rambutan is located in Townsville’s popular nightlife district, on the iconic Flinders Street East. The hotel is a short 15-minute drive from Townsville airport and within walking distance (8 minutes) to Breakwater Ferry Terminal where you can take a short ferry ride (every hour) to see the unspoilt beaches and bays of Magnetic Island. This is also the Greyhound and Premier Coach terminal, with daily transfers heading toward Cairns and Airlie Beach.
Getting There
Townsville lies 350 kilometres away from northern epicentre Cairns, or 1300 kilometres to Brisbane. There are a variety of different ways to make your way to town – the most convenient being a direct flight to the domestic airport.
There’s also a reliable train system, which is a comfortable way to make your way to either of the above cities – Cairns is a six-hour journey, while Brisbane is 18. Or cruise your way by car from the state capital. The 1300-kilometre trip takes 15 hours, so is best spread out across a few days minimum to take in the sights along the way.
